Biosensor Protocol – Bringing up Better Dogs

The Biosensor Protocol was a program designed by the US military in conjunction with AKC judge and Doberman Pinscher guru Carmen Battaglia to try and produce better working dogs by stimulating puppies’ nervous systems in their first few weeks of life for better development.

It’s also sometimes called “Superdog Program” or “Early Neurological Stimulation”, and consists of 5 exercises (each lasting 3-5 seconds) that are done with each puppy for the first two weeks of life, starting on day 3.

The Biosensor program is very widely used, both by trainers of working military dogs but also by guide and service dog organizations. The evidence for it’s efficiency is ancedotal, but at the very least ‘it can’t hurt’!
